The
store opened as Kelly's Rexall Drugs and was 1,100 sq. ft. in size
when it began operations on Bridge St. E. in September 1957. It has
grown into a property of 12,000 sq. ft. and evolved as Kelly's
Guardian Pharmacy & Home
Health Centre. Mr. Paul Kelly has retained his role as president
and owner through the years. Son, Alan Kelly, has been the general
manager since 1993.
Customer service and
convenience to meet the communities' needs have been important to the
store's success. Paul Kelly was a visionary when he opened the store
outside of city limits so customers could shop on Sundays. The store
was open on Wednesday afternoons when the rest of the drugstores in
the city were closed. Kelly's is open 364 days a year, closed only on
Christmas Day. Everyday is
"Seniors Day" and "Free Delivery" is available to
everyone within the city limits.
Kelly's Drug Store
& Kelly's Home Health Centre are now conveniently together under
one roof in Belleville with a second Home Health Centre in Trenton.
Kelly's has been proudly part of the community for almost half a
century.
